Brown and Horne Earn CSC Academic Honors
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University defensive lineman Dontrez Brown and inside linebacker Brock Horne have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Football team, the organization announced Tuesday (Jan. 7).
Horne was selected a finalist for the CSC Academic All-America Team and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 28.
Brown (Sr., Fremont, Ohio) started all 13 games on the defensive line for the Falcons. He posted 22 tackles, 2.0 TFLs and 1.0 sack in 2024. Brown also broke up two passes. Brown played 56 career games for the Falcons and leaves BGSU with 10.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks for his career.
Horne (Sr., Romeo, Mich.) was named a first-team All-MAC honoree at the flex position by CFN. He is poised to earn Academic All-MAC honors for the fifth time later this month. Horne led BGSU with 81 tackles and notched 6.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in 2024. He also forced two fumbles. Horne, along with teammate Patrick Day, own the BGSU program record for games played with 57. Horne has accumulated 243 career tackles, 13.5 career tackles for loss and 5.5 career sacks.
To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District team, student-athletes must possess a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.50 or higher and student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of the games.

Saad was the fourth overall pick. He becomes BGSU's first CFL draft selection since offensive lineman Ryan Hunter was taken in the first round of the 2018 CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts.

Fannin was the 67th overall pick and the first tight end from Bowling Green since Greg Meczka was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the 15th round of the 1974 NFL Draft.
