BGSU Head Baseball Coach Kyle Hallock To Be Inducted Into Kent State Varsity K Hall of Fame
KENT, Ohio - Kent State University announced their 2024 Varsity K Athletics Hall of Fame class on Friday (Nov. 22). BGSU Baseball Head Coach Kyle Hallock will be one of the eight inductees. A pitcher for the Golden Flashes from 2008-11, Hallock was named the 2011 MAC Pitcher of the Year and earned All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball and CollegeBaseballInsider.com.
"I would like to give a very special thank you to Kent State University and specifically the KSU Athletic Department for recognizing my time as a Golden Flash with this Hall of Fame honor," said Hallock. "My coaches and teammates with the Kent State Baseball program pushed me in ways that produced the greatest competition of my playing career. I was surrounded by excellence from all angles, which in turn forced me to produce some of my own. To the coaches, my teammates, the athletic department support staff, my family and for KSU, I am forever grateful."
At Kent State, Hallock was part of pitching staffs that helped the Golden Flashes make three NCAA appearances and capture two MAC regular season championships over his four seasons. He earned All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball and CollegeBaseballInsider.com in addition to being named MAC Pitcher of the Year in 2011 after ranking in the top-30 nationally in both wins (10) and ERA (1.95). Hallock was selected in the 10th round of the 2011 MLB Draft and reached the AAA level before beginning a career in coaching.
Hallock is coming off his fourth season at the helm of the Falcons, taking over prior to the 2021 campaign. In 2024, Hallock and the Falcons captured the MAC Regular Season title, the program's first since 2009, tallying a program record 24 wins. The accomplishments earned Hallock the MAC Coach of the Year award. The Falcons finished with a 24-6 MAC record, tying the program record for MAC winning percentage in a season (.800). This came after a historic 17-0 start to MAC play for BGSU, the longest winning streak to start MAC play in conference baseball history and the second-longest in BGSU Athletics history.
