Falcons Drop Hard Fought-Defensive Battle to Augustana, 1-0 in Overtime

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons (12-9-3, CCHA 8-6-3) fell to the Augustana Vikings (14-7-2, CCHA 6-3-0) by a score of 1-0 in overtime. With tonight's game going into overtime, the Falcons have now played three straight games that have needed at least overtime.

  • The Falcons failed to record a goal for the third time this season at home, after failing to record a goal against Ohio State and Michigan Tech 
  • BGSU won 42 of 68 face-offs for a .648 win percentage at the dot. 
  • Junior Dalton Norris tied a season high in shots with four 
  • Senior Christian Stoever saved 34 of 35 shots faced for a .971 save percentage
  • The Orange and Brown fall to 0-3-0 against the Vikings all time

How It Happened

  • Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first period with the Falcons taking two penalties and Augustana with one of their own. 
  • After the second period, both teams remained tied with the Falcons leading the Vikings in shots 12-7. The same continued to the third period with both teams going scoreless to overtime and each picking up a point
  • At 3:23 into the overtime period, the Vikings finally got one past Stoever to win the game, 1-0
