Nathan Archer Selected by Chicago White Sox in 2024 MLB Draft
ARLINGTON, Texas – Bowling Green State University junior outfielder Nathan Archer was selected by the Chicago White Sox during Tuesday's (July 16) 12th round of the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft. Archer was the 349th overall pick and is the first Falcon selected in the MLB Draft since both Trey Keegan (14th round to Atlanta) and Brian Bien (31st round to Kansas City) were chosen in the 2015 MLB Draft.
Archer is the Falcons' highest draft pick since BGSU Hall-of-Famer Nolan Reimold was taken in the second round of the 2005 draft.
Only nine players in BGSU history have been chosen earlier than the 12th round of the MLB Draft. The complete list can be found later in this release.
"We are extremely proud of Nathan Archer," said BGSU head coach Kyle Hallock. "The Chicago White Sox have drafted a great person and a very gifted player that will help them win baseball games at the major league level one day.
"Nathan is loyal, hardworking, humble and his physical gifts are off the charts. He has earned this opportunity through his habits each day he has spent on our campus for the past three years. We look forward to supporting his career as a professional baseball player in every way we can as he makes his run to the big leagues."
Archer is coming off a strong 2024 campaign for the Falcons, securing the MAC Player of the Year recognition while leading BGSU to a MAC Regular Season title. His season accolades included being named 2024 ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, First-Team All-MAC and MAC All-Defensive Team. He broke the program record for at-bats in a season with a MAC-leading 247 and also set the program record for most at-bats in a game, logging eight against Ball State on March 16.
Archer's impressive season included posting the second-best season in program history for RBI, logging 64. He finished with 148 total bases, third in program history, a team-leading 18 home runs, tied for third in program history, and a MAC-leading 66 runs, placing him fourth in program history.
Archer started all 103 games over the last two seasons and 153 of a possible 155 during his three-year BGSU career. As a Falcon, Archer belted 35 career home runs, tied for fourth in program history, ripped 10 career triples, tied for sixth in program history, logged 340 career total bases, seventh in program history and tallied 137 career RBI, tied for eighth in program history.
