BGSU Baseball Lands Four On CSC Academic All-District® Team
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Four members of the Bowling Green State University baseball team have been named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Gavin Ganun, Luke Krouse, Landon Willeman and Garrett Wright all were named to the team with Wright being selected as a finalist for CSC Academic All-America status. The Academic All-America teams will be announced on July 1. As for BGSU, the four selections are the second-most for the Falcons in a single season in program history behind only last year's five recipients.
Of those named, Krouse is the lone Falcon on the list to receive the recognition both last year and this year. He is the first Falcon since Kyle Gurney to be named in consecutive years with Gurney being named in 2022 and 2023. Overall, he's just the third multi-year recipient in program history, joining Gurney and John Maroli, who was named three times from 1983-85.
Gavin Ganun, Senior, Health Science, 3.64 GPA
A native of Blissfield, Mich., Ganun appeared in 49 games for the Falcons this season with 45 starts while maintaining a 3.64 GPA in Health Science. Ganun roped nine doubles, one triple and seven home runs for the Falcons while posting a .433 slugging percentage. He added a career-high walk rate with a team-high 34 walks drawn, averaging a walk in roughly 20-percent of his plate appearances.
Luke Krouse, Junior, Intervention Specialist, 4.00 GPA
From Antwerp, Ohio, Krouse has maintained a 4.00 GPA at Bowling Green thus far in pursuit of an Intervention Specialist degree. Just the third multi-honoree of this award in program history, Krouse appeared in 16 games for the Falcons this year with three starts. He posted a 2-1 record over 35.1 innings of work while striking out 25 batters. His two wins came against Middle Tennessee (Feb. 14) and Dayton (March 5).
Landon Willeman, Senior, Sport Management, 3.51 GPA
Coming to Bowling Green from Napoleon, Ohio, Willeman posted a 3.51 GPA while earning a degree in Sport Management. He logged a career-high 52 innings this season while appearing in 14 games with 12 starts for the Orange and Brown. He struck out 47 batters, the second-most on the team, including a season-high six against Middle Tennessee on Feb. 14. He picked up his lone win of the season on March 16 against Akron.
Garrett Wright, Sophomore, BS in Criminal Justice, 4.00 GPA
From Massillon, Ohio, Wright concluded the semester with a 4.00 GPA in Criminal Justice. He was named the 2025 MAC Defensive Player of the Year as well as First-Team All-MAC. He played in the most games of any Falcon, appearing in 54 of the team's 55 games while reaching base in 52 of his 54 played. He broke three program records over the course of the season and finished the year as the only player in the MAC to hit above .400 and the only player in the MAC with an on-base percentage above .500.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on July 1. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the linked near the top of this page.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.

- 2025 MLB Draft Pick DJ Newman Signs Deal With Houston AstrosHOUSTON, Texas – Bowling Green junior two-way player DJ Newman was selected by the Houston Astros during the 15th round of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft, going 456th overall. Newman signed a contract to play for the Astros' organization last week. Newman is the 68th player in program history to be selected in the MLB Draft. The Falcons are now one of three teams in the Mid-American Conference with a player selected in both the 2024 and 2025 MLB Drafts, joined by Ball State and Miami (OH).
- BGSU Baseball Lands 10 On Academic All-MAC TeamCLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the Academic All-MAC list for the 2025 baseball season Monday afternoon (June 16). Of those named, Bowling Green had 10 players named to the list, tied for the fourth-most in the league with seven teams having 10 or more. The Falcons have now had at least 10 players named in each of head coach Kyle Hallock's five seasons at Bowling Green.
