Notre Dame Tops Bowling Green In Saturday Showdown
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team took on Notre Dame in the second game of the weekend series on Saturday (May 10) in South Bend. A four-run first inning pushed the Fighting Irish in front. The Falcons answered with a run in the fourth, but it would be the only tally for BGSU in the game. Notre Dame added to their lead with runs in the fifth and seventh before capping off an 11-1 final in the eighth inning. The series between Bowling Green and Notre Dame will conclude on Sunday (May 11) with a 3 p.m. first pitch at Steller Field in Bowling Green.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Notre Dame scored in the first inning, moving out in front with a 4-0 lead, including a three-run home run.
- In the top of the fourth, Zack Horky led off with a single and stole second. A walk to Caden Parker put two on with both advancing on a sacrifice bunt by Caden Bates. Brayden Curlis put a ball up the middle, scoring Horky for a 4-1 tally.
- Notre Dame answered in the bottom of the fifth with a run to push the score to 5-1. Four more crossed for the Fighting Irish in the seventh, making it a 9-1 lead for ND.
- The lead stretched with a home run to start the eighth inning with a run later in the frame for the 11-1 final in eight innings.

- Zack Horky singled in the fourth inning, extending his on-base streak to 19 games and his hitting streak to 12 games, both leading the team. Horky also scored, giving him a run scored in three of the last five games.
- Garrett Wright knocked a base hit for BGSU, giving him a hit in 12 of the last 13 games while reaching base in 36 of the last 37 games.

The Falcons and Fighting Irish will conclude the series in Bowling Green on Sunday (May 11) at Steller Field. Notre Dame will be the first Power 5 conference team to play at Steller Field since 2009. Of those named, Bowling Green had 10 players named to the list, tied for the fourth-most in the league with seven teams having 10 or more. The Falcons have now had at least 10 players named in each of head coach Kyle Hallock's five seasons at Bowling Green. The list of BGSU recipients includes Logan Bell, Gavin Ganun, Nic Good, Zack Horky, Luke Krouse, DJ Newman, Connar Penrod, Sam Seidel, Landon Willeman and Garrett Wright.
- Wright, Penrod Named To ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region First TeamGREENSBORO, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings announced the NCAA Division I All-Region Teams for all eight regions Tuesday morning (June 10). Of those named, both Garrett Wright and Connar Penrod earned First Team All-East Region honors for Bowling Green. This marks the first All-Region honor for both Wright and Penrod.
- BGSU Baseball Lands Four On CSC Academic All-District® TeamBOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Four members of the Bowling Green State University baseball team have been named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Gavin Ganun, Luke Krouse, Landon Willeman and Garrett Wright all were named to the team with Wright being selected as a finalist for CSC Academic All-America status. The Academic All-America teams will be announced on July 1. As for BGSU, the four selections are the second-most for the Falcons in a single season in program history behind only last year's five recipients.
- Falcons Break Multiple Records In Season Finale At MAC TournamentAVON, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team concluded the 2025 campaign on Thursday (May 22) in the MAC Tournament. The Falcons first played Toledo in a game that started at 9 a.m., paused at 10:25 a.m. for weather and then resumed at 5 p.m., going to a 14-12 final. BGSU then turned to Eastern Michigan, rallying back in the ninth inning to force extras, but the Eagles took the game in the 10th with a 10-7 final score to conclude the Bowling Green season at 33-21.
- BGSU-Toledo MAC Tournament Game Postponed To Thursday At 9 a.m.AVON, Ohio – Due to current weather conditions and continuing weather conditions through the night, today's game between Bowling Green and Toledo in the first round of the MAC Tournament has been postponed to Thursday (May 22) at 9 a.m. From there, the tournament will proceed as planned, attempting to play four games on Thursday.
