GREENSBORO, N.C.The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings announced the NCAA Division I All-Region Teams for all eight regions Tuesday morning (June 10). Of those named, both Garrett Wright and Connar Penrod earned First Team All-East Region honors for Bowling Green. This marks the first All-Region honor for both Wright and Penrod.

The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-America teams will be announced the morning of Friday, June 13 prior to the start of the 2025 NCAA Division I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. First Team All-Region selections are eligible for All-America honors. The finalists for the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Gold Glove team will be announced via Twitter by Rawlings Sporting Goods (@RawlingsSports) on Monday, June 16. The Gold Glove winners in all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 18. In all divisions, the ABCA/Rawlings National Pitchers and Position Players of the Year will be announced on Monday, June 23.

With both Wright and Penrod being named to the First Team, this marks the third time in program history BGSU has had multiple First Team recipients in the same season and the first time since 2005 when Nolan Reimold and Alan Brech were both named. Nathan Archer was named All-Region First Team last year for BGSU, giving the Falcons back-to-back seasons with a First Team All-Region honoree for the first time since 2005 and 2006 with Reimold and Brech being named in 2005 followed by Eric Lawson in 2006.

"Connar and Garrett had outstanding seasons for us," said head coach Kyle Hallock. "Both performed at an elite level at their respective positions and it is a great sign of respect for them to be recognized as being the best in our part of the country. For Connar, it's a great and fitting way for him to go out as a senior and cement his legacy as a Falcon. For Garrett, it adds to an already impressive resume that will ultimately go down as one of the best to ever do it at BGSU."

Garrett Wright, C
Wright had an accolade-filled 2025 season for the Orange and Brown, being named the MAC Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-MAC, All-MAC Defensive Team and CSC Academic All-District. He also broke three program records during the season, setting the single-season doubles mark with 20, the single-season hit-by-pitch mark with 28 and the career hit-by-pitch total with 49.

Playing in and starting 54 of BGSU's 55 games, the most of anyone on the team, Wright reached base in 52 of his 54 games of action. He finished the season with a .406 batting average, the only player in the MAC to hit above .400, finishing fifth in program history for single-season batting average. He added to those marks by posting a .513 on-base percentage, the only player in the MAC with an OBP north of .500. He also tallied 82 hits, tied for fifth in program history, scored 60 runs, ninth in program history, and totaled 134 bases, 10th in program history.

Over the course of the season, Wright played five different positions for the Falcons and posted a .991 fielding percentage, including a perfect mark behind the plate. He added to his historic season with a team-high four triples as well as eight home runs, finishing second on the team in the stat. Paired with his record-breaking doubles, Wright posted an impressive .663 slugging percentage for the Falcons.

Connar Penrod, RP
Like Wright, Penrod put together a record-breaking season for the Falcons in 2025 that resulted in First Team All-MAC honors. At the conclusion of the regular season, Penrod was the only pitcher in the nation to have five or more wins, 12 or more saves and an ERA under 2.00. Penrod was the only relief pitcher named to the All-East First Team.

Penrod snapped the single-season record for saves in a season by a Falcon, becoming the first with double-digit saves, finishing with 12, currently tied for 10th in the nation and topping the Mid-American Conference. The tally raised his career total to 13, finishing fourth in program history. Penrod added an impressive 1.65 ERA to his stat line, allowing just five runs over the course of the season for the fourth-best ERA in program history. He added a 5-2 record to his season, leading the team in wins as well.

Making a team-high 22 appearances out of the bullpen in the Orange and Brown, Penrod struck out 33 batters over 27.1 innings of work. Of his 22 appearances, Penrod didn't allow a run in 19 of his outings and didn't allow an earned run in 20 of the 22. He also managed to hold opposing batters to an average of .178.
