Connar Penrod Named MAC Pitcher Of The Week
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the MAC Player and Pitcher of the Week Monday afternoon (March 31). Of those named, Connar Penrod earned the Pitcher of the Week honor. This marks the first honor of Penrod's BGSU career while being the second for the Falcons after Brady Birchmeier was named MAC Co-Player of the Week on March 17.
Penrod recorded a save in each game of BGSU's three-game weekend sweep over Central Michigan. Penrod began the weekend by logging the save in both games of Friday's doubleheader before adding another on Sunday, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings on his way to his three saves. Penrod now has eight saves this season, already tied for the program record for saves in a single season as well as being tied for first in the nation in the stat. As a team, BGSU now has 12 saves this year, which also ties the program record for a season. Penrod's effort helped the Falcons register the first sweep at Central Michigan in program history.

The Falcons will stay on the road to begin the month of April, scheduled for a midweek contest at Michigan State on Wednesday (April 2) at 6:05 p.m. From there, BGSU will return home to host the Miami RedHawks in a three-game weekend series (April 4-6).

- Garrett Wright Named MAC Scholar-Athlete Of The WeekCLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the MAC Scholar-Athletes of the Week Wednesday afternoon (April 9) just before Bowling Green's game against Youngstown State. Of those named, Bowling Green's Garrett Wright was named the MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week. A Criminal Justice major, Wright has maintained a 4.00 GPA. This is Wright's first Scholar-Athlete award as a member of the Falcons. As for BGSU, this is the third time a Falcon has been named this season with women's basketball's Amy Velasco collecting the other two recognitions.
- Taking One As A Team: Falcons Break Program Record For Hit-By-Pitch In Run Rule VictoryNILES, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team tallied a run-rule victory over Youngstown State on Wednesday (April 9) with a 17-5 final in seven innings. In doing so, Bowling Green broke the program record for hit-by-pitch in a game as a team. Six different Falcons were hit by a pitch in the game, totaling eight HBPs over the course of the contest. The free trips to first were complimented by two doubles from Carter Mottice, one from Brayden Curlis and one from Sam Seidel. Seidel added a home run, as did Cooper McKenzie, for the 17-5 victory. The Orange and Brown move to 22-9 on the season while being 16-5 when playing on the road.
- BGSU Baseball Adds Midweek Contest Against Findlay On April 29BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team has made an addition to this year's home schedule. The Falcons have added a home game for Tuesday, April 29, hosting the University of Findlay. The game is set for a 3 p.m. start at Steller Field and admission, as always, will be free. The meeting between BGSU and UF will be the 82nd all-time, but the first since the 2016 season.
- On The Road Again: BGSU Baseball Heads To Youngstown State, Western MichiganBOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will head on the road for their next five games with four being this week. The Falcons will start the trip with a midweek against Youngstown State on Wednesday (April 9) with a 5 p.m. first pitch. From there, Bowling Green will transition to Kalamazoo, Mich. for a three-game weekend series with Western Michigan, playing one game each of Friday, Saturday and Sunday (April 11-13). - BGSU Baseball Claims Extra Innings Win In Walk-Off FashionBOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team recorded their third walk-off win at home this season on Sunday (April 6), taking a 7-6 final in extra innings over the Miami (OH) RedHawks. Connar Penrod tossed three scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the Falcons, keeping the game tied to set up extras. Brady Birchmeier delivered the game-winning hit with a single through the right side to score Brayden Curlis. The win pushes BGSU to 21-9 on the season while being 11-4 within the Mid-American Conference.
- Falcons Drop Doubleheader Friday To RedHawksBOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team hosted the Miami (OH) RedHawks for a doubleheader Friday (April 4), featuring the top two teams in the MAC standings entering the day. Both teams received strong outings from their starting pitchers in both games, but the RedHawks pulled out wins in both contests to sweep the doubleheader day. The results push BGSU to 20-9 on the season while being 10-4 within the MAC. The series will conclude on Sunday (April 6) with a 2 p.m. start between BGSU and Miami.
