Falcons Fall To Fighting Irish In Series Opener
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team began the weekend series against Notre Dame on Friday (May 9) in South Bend. The Falcons and Fighting Irish started with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch, moving the game under the lights in the later innings. Notre Dame scored six runs in the first two innings to jump out to a lead. Nate Kress came on out of the bullpen and allowed just one run over the next four innings. However, a three-run home run in the seventh walked it off for Notre Dame with a 10-0 run rule. The series will resume on Saturday (May 10) with a 2 p.m. first pitch at Notre Dame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Notre Dame scored two in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 lead.
- The Falcons challenged in the second inning. Caden Bates singled before moving up to second on a sacrifice bunt by Bradyen Curlis. Alex Laird singled up the middle with Bates attempting to score, but a diving play by the Notre Dame shortstop and a throw home beat Bates to the plate, keeping the 2-0 score.
- In the bottom of the second, the Fighting Irish added four to push their lead to 6-0. Another run crossed in the fourth for a 7-0 tally.
- Notre Dame made a pitching change going into the sixth inning. On the first pitch from the new arm, Gunner Antillon tripled off the right field wall. However, the Fighting Irish fought back with three strikeouts to keep the 7-0 score in place.
- A three-run home run in the seventh pushed the score to 10-0 for Notre Dame with a walk-off run rule final.

FALCON STAT FACTS
- With a two-out base knock in the first inning, Zack Horky extended both his hitting and on-base streaks, now at 11 and 18, respectively, both ranking second on the team.
- Gunner Antillon's sixth inning triple extended his hitting streak to 10 games with the triple marking his second of the season. He also now has an 11-game on-base streak.
- Nate Kress came on in relief for the Falcons, tossing four-plus innings for BGSU, striking out two. Kress was the only BGSU reliever in the game, saving the bullpen efforts for the remainder of the series.

The Falcons and Fighting Irish will continue the series in South Bend on Saturday (May 10) with a 2 p.m. start before transitioning the series to Bowling Green on Sunday (May 11) with a 3 p.m. first pitch. - BGSU Baseball Lands 10 On Academic All-MAC TeamCLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the Academic All-MAC list for the 2025 baseball season Monday afternoon (June 16). Of those named, Bowling Green had 10 players named to the list, tied for the fourth-most in the league with seven teams having 10 or more. The Falcons have now had at least 10 players named in each of head coach Kyle Hallock's five seasons at Bowling Green. The list of BGSU recipients includes Logan Bell, Gavin Ganun, Nic Good, Zack Horky, Luke Krouse, DJ Newman, Connar Penrod, Sam Seidel, Landon Willeman and Garrett Wright.
- Wright, Penrod Named To ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region First TeamGREENSBORO, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings announced the NCAA Division I All-Region Teams for all eight regions Tuesday morning (June 10). Of those named, both Garrett Wright and Connar Penrod earned First Team All-East Region honors for Bowling Green. This marks the first All-Region honor for both Wright and Penrod.
- BGSU Baseball Lands Four On CSC Academic All-District® TeamBOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Four members of the Bowling Green State University baseball team have been named to the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Gavin Ganun, Luke Krouse, Landon Willeman and Garrett Wright all were named to the team with Wright being selected as a finalist for CSC Academic All-America status. The Academic All-America teams will be announced on July 1. As for BGSU, the four selections are the second-most for the Falcons in a single season in program history behind only last year's five recipients.
- Falcons Break Multiple Records In Season Finale At MAC TournamentAVON, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team concluded the 2025 campaign on Thursday (May 22) in the MAC Tournament. The Falcons first played Toledo in a game that started at 9 a.m., paused at 10:25 a.m. for weather and then resumed at 5 p.m., going to a 14-12 final. BGSU then turned to Eastern Michigan, rallying back in the ninth inning to force extras, but the Eagles took the game in the 10th with a 10-7 final score to conclude the Bowling Green season at 33-21.
- BGSU-Toledo MAC Tournament Game Postponed To Thursday At 9 a.m.AVON, Ohio – Due to current weather conditions and continuing weather conditions through the night, today's game between Bowling Green and Toledo in the first round of the MAC Tournament has been postponed to Thursday (May 22) at 9 a.m. From there, the tournament will proceed as planned, attempting to play four games on Thursday.
