- Ferris State struck first at 7:29 in the second period to make the lead, 2-1. Although, just over two minutes later sophomore Gustav Stjernberg took a shot and then collected the rebound. Stjernberg took a shot on the bottom left-hand side found the back of the net to tie the game back at 2-2.
- At 12:43 in the second period, the bulldogs answered back to take back the lead 3-2, yet again the lead did not last long. Less than two minutes later, on the powerplay, Waters scored again after deflecting a shot from junior Dalton Norris from the right-hand circle to tie it at three all.
- After going on the powerplay in the second period, Waters scored his third of the night after senior Ryan O'Hara found Norris across the zone. Norris found a wide-open Waters on the back side of the net who tapped it in to give the Falcons their first lead of the night, 4-3.
