Ohio State, Notre Dame and Princeton Highlight Ice Hockey Non-Conference Slate
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University ice hockey team has released its non-conference slate, finalizing the program's schedule for the 2025-26 season. A home series against Princeton and home-and-home sets with Ohio State and Notre Dame highlight the schedule.
The Falcons will play a total of eleven non-conference games, including three exhibition contests. Seven of those games will be held at Slater Family Ice Arena, with the remaining four played on the road. All home games played on Fridays are scheduled for a 7:07 PM puck drop, and all home games played on Saturdays are slated for a 6:07 PM puck drop, unless otherwise noted.
BGSU opens the season on Oct. 4 with a home exhibition matchup against Robert Morris.
The following weekend, the Falcons travel to Niagara for a road series (Oct. 10-11). It will be the first meeting with the Purple Eagles since the 2012-13 season, when the teams played a home-and-home series. The all-time series began during the 2000-01 season. Bowling Green returns home on Oct. 17 for a single exhibition contest against the University of Windsor.
On Thanksgiving weekend, the Falcons host Princeton (Nov. 28-29). It will mark the first time an Ivy League program from the ECAC has visited Slater Family Ice Arena since the Tigers came for a January series in 2001. Most recently, BGSU and Princeton met in Storrs, Conn., December 2010.
Bowling Green rings in the New Year with a home exhibition matchup against the U.S. National Team Development Program on Dec. 29, followed by a home-and-home series with Ohio State that begins in Columbus on Jan. 2 and concludes in Bowling Green on Jan. 3. The Buckeyes and Falcons have met 184 times in the series, and this marks the fifth consecutive season the two have played a home-and-home series.
BGSU concludes its non-conference schedule with a home-and-home series against Notre Dame at the end of January. Game one will be played at Notre Dame on Jan. 30, followed by the return matchup at Slater Family Ice Arena on Jan. 31. The Falcons and Fighting Irish have met 107 times, but this will be their first matchup since November 2019.
The Falcons' Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) schedule, already announced, begins with a road trip to Lake Superior State on Oct. 24-25.
