BGSU Hockey Set to Open 2025 with Away Series against Lake Superior State

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons (8-7-2, CCHA 4-4-2) will open the 2025 calendar year with an in conference away series against the Lake Superior State Lakers (8-9-1, 6-4-0).

Match-Up History 
Bowling Green leads the series all time with a 97-80-13 record overall. The Falcons are 38-44-6 on the road against the Lakes and own an 82-70-13 conference record. A season ago, the two teams met four times for two series. The first series in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., the Falcons split with the Lakers with an overtime loss. The second series in Bowling Green, Ohio., the Falcons swept the Lakers and are currently on a two-game win streak against Lake Superior State. The two teams have met, at least once, in every season except for Bowling Green's inaugural season 1969-1970.

  • The Lakers currently sit in first in the CCHA in goals scored (53), goals per game (2.94), assists (92), assists per game (5.11), points (145) and points per game (8.06)
  • LSSU holds the top penalty kill unit in the league with a .871 success rate
  • The Lakers Sasha Teleguine owns eight goals and is the CCHA's second leading goal scorer behind sophomore Brody Waters. Both players have recorded a hat trick this season and are the only in the CCHA to have accomplished this feat. 
  • Lake Superior State is second within the CCHA in faceoff winning percentage (.505), behind Bowling Green (.541)

Falcon Facts 

  • The Falcons are currently on a three-game win streak after sweeping Northern Michigan and beating RIT before the end of 2023
  • Senior goaltender Christian Stoever was named CCHA Goaltender of the Month for the month of December as announced by the CCHA on Jan. 2, 2025 with a 1.33 GAA, .943 save percentage and one shutout in December
  • Sophomore Brody Waters scored the opening goal against RIT, last time out, to extend his lead to nine which leads the CCHA
  • Senior Ryan O'Hara scored his first goal of the season against RIT and was the eventual game-winner
  • The Falcons are leading the CCHA in face-off win percentage at 54.1%, while eighth within the NCAA
  • Mid-year enrollee freshman Ivan Korodiuk  skated in his first collegiate game against RIT and recorded four shots
