LEXINGTON, Ky.The American Volleyball Coaches Associate (AVCA) announced on Wednesday morning (Dec. 18) the list of All-American recipients for the 2024 campaign. Among those named was Bowling Green's junior opposite hitter, Lauryn Hovey. This marks Hovey's first career All-American honor and the third in BGVB history.

Hovey is just the second player in program history to be named an AVCA All-American, being listed as an Honorable Mention. She joins Petra Indrova as the only players in program history to be named All-Americans. Indrova was an honorable mention during both the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Lauryn Hovey was the catalyst for the Falcon offense this year, contributing across the board this season. Hovey led the team in kills, aces and points while being second in digs and third in blocks. This year, Hovey's 59 aces tied the Rally Scoring Era record, which she set last season, and finished second all-time. Hovey is the first player in program history to log consecutive 50-ace seasons. On the attack, Hovey has landed 449 kills for the Falcons, ranking eighth during the program's Rally Scoring Era for single-season kills. She also has maintained a .270 hitting percentage on the year, including a season-best .500 in the NIVC match against DePaul on Monday (Dec. 9) to go along with 17 kills.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Hovey was named the MAC Player of the Year, becoming the ninth time BGSU has had a player receive the recognition and the fifth over the last eight seasons. Hovey was also named All-MAC First Team, the third of her career. She's just the fifth Falcon to be named All-MAC First Team at least three times, joining Kendra Halm ('06, '07, '08), Petra Indrova ('20, '21, '22), Katelyn Meyer ('18, '19, '20, '21) and Tammy Schiller ('89, '90, '91).
