Falcons Land Seven On Academic All-MAC Team
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced Monday morning (Dec. 30) the 2024 Volleyball Academic All-MAC Team. A total of 83 student-athletes were named across the conference with Bowling Green totaling seven. Ball State led the way in the MAC with 10, followed closely by Western Michigan's nine and Toledo's eight. The Falcons were one of six teams in the MAC with seven honorees. Bowling Green has now had at least seven student-athletes named Academic All-MAC in each of the last nine seasons.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.

As a team, the Falcons are coming off a historic 2024 campaign, finishing 25-10 with a 16-2 MAC record, capturing the MAC Championship, and finishing as the NIVC runner-up for the second time in program history. The team set records for aces in a season (231) and total blocks (335.5) during the Rally Scoring Era. Individual records included Alexis Mettille setting the single-season and career hitting percentage records, and Lauryn Hovey breaking the Rally Scoring records for single-season and career aces.

Head men's basketball coach Todd Simon will leadoff this week followed by head women's basketball coach Fred Chmiel and the newly named head volleyball coach Alex DelPiombo. DelPiombo spent nine years on Danijela Tomic's BGSU staff.
- Danijela Tomic Leaves BGSU to Lead the Cincinnati Bearcats Volleyball ProgramBOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University (BGSU) volleyball head coach Danijela Tomic has been hired for the same position at the University of Cincinnati. Tomic departs BGSU as the program's second-winningest coach, amassing a 236-161 record and a program-best seven Mid-American Conference (MAC) championships. Her .594 winning percentage is the highest in the 49-year history of the program.
