LEXINGTON, Ky.The American Volleyball Coaches Associate (AVCA) announced on Tuesday morning (Dec. 10) the list of All-Region recipients for the 2024 campaign. Among those named for the newly lined Midwest Region was Bowling Green's Lauryn Hovey. This is Hovey's third consecutive time being named after receiving the recognition the last two seasons as part of the Northeast Region.

Hovey is just the third player in program history to be named All-Region in three straight seasons, joining Tammy Schiller (1989, 1990, 1991) and Petra Indrova (2020, 2021, 2022). The Falcons have now had at least one recipient named in five straight seasons as well as eight of the last nine. Over the nine year span, Bowling Green has had 10 recipients recognized.

Lauryn Hovey has been the catalyst for the Falcon offense this year, contributing across the board this season. Hovey leads the team in kills, aces and points while being second in digs and third in blocks. This year, Hovey's 54 aces are the second-most during the program's Rally Scoring Era, trailing only her 59 from last season. On the attack, Hovey has landed 415 kills for the Falcons, ranking 10th during the program's Rally Scoring Era for single-season kills, needing just three to bump up to eighth. She also has maintained a .269 hitting percentage on the year, including a season-best .500 in the NIVC match against DePaul on Monday (Dec. 9) to go along with 17 kills.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Hovey was named the MAC Player of the Year, becoming the ninth time BGSU has had a player receive the recognition and the fifth over the last eight seasons. HOvey was also named All-MAC First Team, the third of her career. She's just the fifth Falcon to be named All-MAC First Team at least three times, joining Kendra Halm ('06, '07, '08), Petra Indrova ('20, '21, '22), Katelyn Meyer ('18, '19, '20, '21) and Tammy Schiller ('89, '90, '91).

Up Next
The Falcons will advance to the Fab Four of the NIVC for the second time in program history. Bowling Green will play the winner of the UConn-St. John's match scheduled for Dec. 12. The date, location and time of the next BGSU match will be determined once the opponent is known.
