Notre Dame Tops Bowling Green In Saturday Showdown
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team took on Notre Dame in the second game of the weekend series on Saturday (May 10) in South Bend. A four-run first inning pushed the Fighting Irish in front. The Falcons answered with a run in the fourth, but it would be the only tally for BGSU in the game. Notre Dame added to their lead with runs in the fifth and seventh before capping off an 11-1 final in the eighth inning. The series between Bowling Green and Notre Dame will conclude on Sunday (May 11) with a 3 p.m. first pitch at Steller Field in Bowling Green.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Notre Dame scored in the first inning, moving out in front with a 4-0 lead, including a three-run home run.
- In the top of the fourth, Zack Horky led off with a single and stole second. A walk to Caden Parker put two on with both advancing on a sacrifice bunt by Caden Bates. Brayden Curlis put a ball up the middle, scoring Horky for a 4-1 tally.
- Notre Dame answered in the bottom of the fifth with a run to push the score to 5-1. Four more crossed for the Fighting Irish in the seventh, making it a 9-1 lead for ND.
- The lead stretched with a home run to start the eighth inning with a run later in the frame for the 11-1 final in eight innings.

The Falcons and Fighting Irish will conclude the series in Bowling Green on Sunday (May 11) at Steller Field. Notre Dame will be the first Power 5 conference team to play at Steller Field since 2009. - Wright’s MAC Defensive Player Of The Year Award Headlines Four All-MAC Honors For BGSUCLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the conference honors for the 2025 season Tuesday morning (May 20). Of those named, BGSU baseball collected four recognitions with two different members of the program being named. Garrett Wright was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Year along with being All-MAC First Team and All-MAC Defensive Team for the second year straight. Connar Penrod joined Wright on the All-MAC First Team list as well.
- BGSU Sets Aim For Avon And MAC Tournament, Beginning With Battle Of I-75AVON, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will head into the MAC Tournament this week in Avon, Ohio as the No. 4 seed in the field. BGSU will begin their portion of the tournament on Wednesday, May 21 with a 6 p.m. first pitch against the Toledo Rockets. With a double elimination bracket that will reseed, the Falcons second game will be on Thursday, May 22 with the time and opponent yet to be determined. The games will be played at Crushers Stadium, the home of the Lake Erie Crushers, and will be available to watch on ESPN+. - Seidel Sends Off Regular Season With Eighth Inning Blast To Push Falcons Past HuskiesBOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday (May 17) at Steller Field, claiming a 4-2 victory over Northern Illinois. Being tied at the conclusion of every inning entering the eighth, Brady Birchmeier and Sam Seidel changed the script. Birchmeier doubled to the outfield with Alex Laird entering as a pinch runner. In the next at-bat, Seidel launched a two-run shot to right field, pushing BGSU in front for the 4-2 win. The win moves Bowling Green to 33-20 to conclude the regular season and 19-11 in the MAC before beginning the MAC Tournament on Wednesday (May 21).
