During MAC play, Jamai Felt leads the MAC in blocks per game (3.0) and Javontae Campbell leads the MAC in steals per game (2.8).
A Bowling Green Win Would…
- Put the Falcons back at .500 within conference play with a 3-3 MAC record.
- Keep Bowling Green undefeated when playing on Tuesdays this season at 4-0.
- Snap a six-game losing streak inside Millett Hall, marking the first win for the Orange and Brown in Oxford since Jan. 16, 2018.
- Mark the first road win in the BGSU-Miami (OH) all-time series since March 2, 2021 when the RedHawks took an overtime final in Bowling Green.
Thomas Catching Fire In MAC Play
Trey Thomas has had a tale of two seasons so far this year. Thomas began the season during non-conference play averaging 7.9 points per game with only three double-digit scoring performances. However, since MAC play started the tides have turned for Thomas. Through five MAC games, Thomas has scored double-digits in each, including his first two 20-point games of the season. Against MAC opponents, Thomas is averaging 17.8 points per game, not only leading the team but ranking second in the MAC behind only Eastern Michigan's Da'Sean Nelson with an average of 18.6 points per game. With his success during MAC play, Thomas is now averaging 10.8 points for the season.
Scouting The RedHawks
Miami (OH) enters the week tied with Akron at the top of the MAC standings with a 5-0 conference record. The five wins for the RedHawks have come against Buffalo, Ball State, Western Michigan, Northern Illinois and Kent State with the wins over Buffalo and Western Michigan coming at home. Going back to non-conference play, Miami has tallied seven-straight wins with their last loss being on Dec. 18 on the road against Vermont. In addition to their 5-0 record on the season, Miami is 13-4 on the season while being 7-1 at home, losing their home opener to Wright State.
BGSU vs. Miami (OH), All-Time
The Falcons and RedHawks will be meeting for the 153rd time in program history with the series dating back to the 1944 campaign. Miami (OH) holds the all-time advantage with a record of 91-61 with the home team winning each of the last six matchups as well as nine of the last 10. The last win for Bowling Green in Oxford came on Jan. 16, 2018 with an 81-70 final over the RedHawks. When playing in Oxford, Miami has the advantage at 52-19.
Felt Tops Conference Leaderboard
Jamai Felt has been on fire defensively for the Falcons against MAC opponents. After missing the last two seasons due to injuries, Felt has played in all 17 games this year for the Falcons, including starting in the last nine. Felt has registered at least one block in each of the last six games, including three games over the last four with four blocks. The surge in rejections has culminated in 15 blocks for Felt during MAC play, averaging 3.0 blocks per game. Both marks now lead the MAC during conference play. As for the season, Felt has 25 blocks with an average of 1.5, which ranks second in the MAC behind only Ohio's AJ Clayton with 33 blocks and an average of 1.9. Felt is also currently fifth during MAC play for rebounds per game at 7.6.
Campbell On Record-Breaking Pace
Javontae Campbell has established himself among the best in the nation for steals. Campbell is averaging 3.24 steals per game, ranking third in the nation, and has totaled 55 steals, tied for the fourth-most in the country. Campbell needs just six to break into BGSU's top 10 for a single season. At his current pace with 31 games on BGSU's schedule, Campbell is on pace to tally 100 steals during the regular season. The current BGSU single-season steals record is set at 82 by DeMar Moore in 1996-97. As for the MAC steals record, it's held by Ball State's Bonzi Wells with 103 during the 1997-98 campaign. Postseason play would count towards both records.
