BGSU Ice Hockey Announces Nation’s Top-Ranked 2025 Recruiting Class

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University head hockey coach Dennis Williams has announced the addition of nine new student-athletes for the 2025-26 season. The class includes high-end talent from all three major Canadian Hockey League circuits (WHL, OHL, QMJHL), and has been ranked No. 1 among all NCAA Division I programs by Neutral Zone Scouting.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University head hockey coach Dennis Williams has announced the addition of 10 new student-athletes for the 2025-26 season. The class includes high-end talent from all three major Canadian Hockey League circuits (WHL, OHL, QMJHL), and has been ranked No. 1 among all NCAA Division I programs by Neutral Zone Scouting.

The Falcons welcome Brayden Crampton (D, Chilliwack, B.C.), Ty Higgins (D, Stratford, Ont.), Mazden Leslie (D, Lloydminster, Alta.), Connor Levis (F, Vancouver, B.C.), Jérémie Minville (F, Drummondville, Que.), Noah Morneau (F, Windsor, Ont.), Tanner Scott (F, Sherwood Park, Alta.), Jake Sloan (F, Leduc County, Alta.), Jacob Steinman (G, Ottawa, Ont.) and Brandon Whynott (F, Langley, B.C.).

"We are really excited to welcome our first full recruiting class," said Williams. "I thought we did a really good job identifying players throughout North America and Europe. It's our job to find those diamonds in the rough — the players who want to come here and be BGSU Falcon Hockey players. We're really excited about next season, this recruiting class, and the players who are returning. We look forward to working hard and continuing to build a strong culture within our group and meshing everyone together."

The 2025-26 recruiting class bios, listed alphabetically, includes:

Brayden Crampton (Chilliwack, B.C.) | D | Spokane Chiefs (WHL)
A steady and productive blueliner, Crampton (Chilliwack, B.C.) led all Spokane defensemen this season with 71 points (10G, 61A). With nearly 250 career WHL games, he's compiled 151 points (23G, 128A), ranking 9th all-time among Chiefs defensemen. He enjoyed a breakout 2023-24 season, tallying career highs in goals (9), assists (48), and points (57). Crampton notched 71 points (10G, 61A) to close out his Chiefs career in 2024-25.
 

Ty Higgins (Stratford, Ont.) | D | Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (QMJHL)
One of the QMJHL's premier defensemen in 2024-25, Higgins (Stratford, Ont.) posted 67 points (19G, 48A) in 63 games, surpassing his previous season high. He has 157 career points (55G, 102A) in 235 games between Rouyn-Noranda and Acadie-Bathurst. Known for his composure and puck movement, Higgins becomes just the third QMJHL player to commit to BGSU.
 

Mazden Leslie (Lloydminster, Alta.) | D | Vancouver Giants (WHL)
The Giants' captain, Leslie (Lloydminster, Alta.), had an elite final WHL campaign, recording 72 points (21G, 51A) in 66 games. Drafted 10th overall in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft, Leslie has played 280 WHL games and compiled 190 points (57G, 133A). A 2005-born defenseman, Leslie is ranked 196th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the 2025 NHL Draft.
 

Levis (Vancouver, B.C.) is coming off his final WHL season with 56 points (23G, 33A) over 64 games in 2024-25 for the Vancouver Giants. In WHL play for his career he amassed 234 points (99G, A135) over 287 career games that includes stints with the Giants and the Kamloops Blazers (2020-24). He was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the seventh round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, 210th overall. 
 

Jérémie Minville (Drummondville, Que.) | F | Gatineau Olympiques (QMJHL)
Minville (Drummondville, Que.) captained Gatineau and finished the 2024-25 season with 66 points (35G, 31A) in 63 games. After a breakout 2023-24 campaign that saw him lead the Olympiques with 79 points, he has 175 career points (83G, 92A) in 245 QMJHL games. His leadership and scoring ability make him a key addition to the Falcons' forward group.
 

Noah Morneau (Windsor, Ont.) | F | Windsor Spitfires (OHL)
A playmaking forward with a high hockey IQ, Morneau (Windsor, Ont.) notched 73 points (32G, 41A) this season, ranking third on the team. In 199 career OHL games, he's totaled 132 points (52G, 80A). A 15th-round OHL pick in 2020, Morneau's steady rise makes him a valuable and mature addition to the Falcon attack.
 

Tanner Scott (Sherwood Park, Alta.) | F | Saskatoon Blades (WHL)
A dependable veteran forward, Scott (Sherwood Park, Alta.) posted 16 points (6G, 10A) in 25 games with the Victoria Royals before being traded to the Saskatoon Blades for his final 33 games of the 2024-25 season. With the Royals he notched 20 points (8G, 12A) to give him 36 points (14G, 22A) over 58 games between the Royals and Blades. With  278 career WHL games, all between the Victoria Royals and Saskatoon, he's compiled 162 points (62G, 100A). Known for his 200-foot game and leadership, Scott will bring maturity and energy to the BGSU forward corps.
 

Jake Sloan (Leduc County, Alta.) | F | Tri-City Americans (WHL)
The Tri-City captain, Sloan (Leduc County, Alta.), set a career standard with 70 points in 2023-24 and notched even a better season in 2024-25 with 73 points (29G, 44A). A five-year WHL veteran, Sloan amassed 241 points (101G, 140A) in 265 career games. His size, skill and leadership make him one of the most complete incoming players in the NCAA.
 

Jacob Steinman (Ottawa, Ont.) | G | Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)
One of the QMJHL's top goaltenders, Steinman (Ottawa, Ont.) boasted a .917 save percentage across 52 games in 2024-25 between the Moncton Wildcats and the Halifax Mooseheads. He also posted 2.32 goals against average. A former GOJHL standout, he joined the Wildcats in 2022 and left Moncton ranking fifth in franchise history in goalie games played (125). His calm, technical style brings immediate depth to the BGSU crease.
 

Brandon Whynott (Langley, B.C.) | F | Tri-City Americans (WHL)
Enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024-25, Whynott (Langley, B.C.)  recorded 60 points (26G, 34A) over 67 games for Tri-City, surpassing previous career highs with games to spare. In 272 career WHL games, he's posted 130 points (54G, 76A). Acquired from Calgary in 2023, Whynott's consistent production and versatility will be a major asset in Bowling Green.
