O’Hara Nets First Goal of the Season as Falcons Close Out 2024 with 2-1 win over RIT

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons (8-7-2, CCHA 4-4-2) defeated the RIT Tigers (4-15-1, AHA 3-8-1) by a score of 2-1 to close out 2024. In the win, senior Ryan O'Hara scored his first goal of the season, and it was the eventual game-winner. With the win, the Falcons improve to 4-0-0 against AHA foes.

In the win, senior Ryan O'Hara scored his first goal of the season, and it was the eventual game-winner. With the win, the Falcons improve to 4-0-0 against AHA foes.

  • The Falcons remain undefeated against AHA competition and improve to 4-3-0 in out of conference play 
  • BGSU extends their winning streak to three games before the start of 2025
  • Bowling Green scored a goal in the first period for the 11th time this season so far
  • Mid-year enrollee freshman Ivan Korodiuk skated in his first collegiate game with the Falcons and recorded four shots 
  • In the win, senior Ryan O'Hara netted his first goal of the season, after starting the season with a team leading 11 assists
  • Sophomore Brody Waters extended his goal lead to nine with the first goal of the game

By The Numbers

How It Happened 

  • Eight minutes into the game, graduate Ville Immonen took a shot from the blue line that was initial blocked. Sophomore Brody Waters picked up the loose puck and took a shot at the top of the circle, beating the RIT goaltender on the blocker side. 
  • Neither team would be able to find the back of the net in the second, with the Falcons winning the shots battle 35-13 through two periods of play.
  • Early in the third period at 5:06, RIT would find the equalizer on a breakaway after a mishandled puck by the Falcons. 
  • Close to six minutes later, senior Ryan O'Hara would net the eventual game-winner and his first of the season. Junior Quinn Emerson was fighting for a loose puck in the neutral zone with an RIT player. The loose puck was picked up and brought into the zone by O'Hara took a shot that went in the five hole on the RIT goaltender.
