Former BGSU Hockey Player Spencer Kersten Signs with Belleville Senators in the AHL

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University hockey alumnus Spencer Kersten has been signed to a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League (AHL) as announced by the club on Sunday Jan. 12.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University hockey alumnus Spencer Kersten has been signed to a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League (AHL) as announced by the club on Sunday Jan. 12.  

The Waterloo, Ontario native appeared in 36 games during the 2023-24 season at Bowling Green State University, scoring 16 points (9g-7a). Kersten recorded three power-play goals on the season, tying for first in this category. The 5-10 forward recorded 31 blocks on the season, tying for third among the Falcons, as well as three multi-point games: against Ferris State on Dec. 9 (1g, 1a), against Minnesota State on Jan.19 (2a) and against Lake Superior State Feb.9 (2a).

After finishing his collegiate career, Kersten signed with the Orlando Solar Bears in the ECHL and has played in 48 games with 16 goals, 21 assists, and 37 points.
