NPHC was founded in 1930 at Howard University in Washington, D.C., with the purpose of fostering unity and cooperation among its member organizations and advocating for the interests of Black college students. Many courses with pre-determined goals can become stagnant or overly routine, especially if they are frequently taught semester after semester.
