- 6:00 PM2h 30mFilm screening and discussion of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" (1982)The Wood County District Public Library will host a free film screening and discussion of Dick Fontaine and Pat Hartley's recently restored documentary, I Heard It Through the Grapevine (1982), led by Dr. Rachel Ann Walsh, Institute for the Study of Culture and Society Fellow, Fall 2025. I Heard It Through the Grapevine follows author and activist James Baldwin as he revisits sites of the American South that he first experienced during his 1957 reporting on the Civil Rights Movement. Throughout, Baldwin talks with fellow authors, scholars, and activists about ongoing Black freedom struggles and attempts to dismantle the gains of the Civil Rights Movement.
